いちきゆきこ
1976年静岡県生まれ、東京在住。
短期大学にて服飾・繊維・生活文化を専攻。超就職氷河期に社会人となる。夢見ていた分野でのキャリアを早々にあきらめ、得意なことを活かせる仕事を選ぶことに。総合電機メーカーに就職し、BtoB向けのマイクロソフトオフィシャルトレーナー（MOT）として教育・研修業務に従事。その後外資系製薬メーカーの人事部にて採用と組織構築・人財教育に従事。30代後半で重い病気を経験し退職。この予期せぬ転機がきっかけで刺し子に出会い、魅了され今日に至ります。

2019年からは刺し子作家兼講師として活動をはじめ、自身の教室運営に加え、ヴォーグ学園・よみうりカルチャー・三越カルチャーサロンの講師、ユニクロ刺し子リペアに於いてデザイン監修やスタッフ指導を行う。著書に『刺し子のきほん』（主婦の友社）、共著・雑誌掲載多数。

日本の伝統文様から着想を得つつ、現代の生活に自然に溶け込むデザインを追求しています。素材選びから仕上げまで全て手作業で、布と糸の温もりを大切にしています。刺し子の伝統を尊重しつつ、独自の解釈を加えた作品づくりを続けています。

Yukiko Ichiki

Born in Shizuoka in 1976 and currently based in Tokyo.
After graduating from a junior college specializing in clothing and textiles, I entered the workforce during Japan’s employment ice age. Unable to pursue the career I had dreamed of, I quickly shifted my mindset and chose a path that made use of my strengths. I joined an IT company and worked as a Microsoft Official Trainer (MOT), providing training and educational programs for corporations and schools. Later, while deepening my work in education at a global pharmaceutical company, I experienced a serious illness in my late thirties and left my job. This unexpected turning point led me to discover sashiko as a hobby, and I was immediately captivated by its joy.

Since 2019, I have been active as a sashiko artist and instructor. Alongside running my own classes, I teach at Vogue Gakuen, Yomiuri Culture Center, and Mitsukoshi Culture Salon, and have also provided design supervision and training for repair staff in UNIQLO’s sashiko repair program. I am the author of Sashiko no Kihon (Shufunotomo Co., Ltd.), and have contributed to numerous co-authored books and magazine features.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese patterns, I pursue designs that blend naturally into modern life. Every step—from selecting materials to finishing—is done entirely by hand, with great care for the warmth of fabric and thread. While honoring the traditions of sashiko, I continue to create works that incorporate my own interpretations.
